There’s already a leak in the roof of the Sacramento Kings’ new arena, their three-month old Golden One Center, but at least that can be fixed.
However, the Kings’ plans to give DeMarcus Cousins an extension worth around $207 million this coming summer is tantamount to laying a new foundation that’s tilted and being erected on grade-A quicksand. Before long there’ll be cracks in the foundation and the whole thing will cave in long before Cousins’ new deal runs out in 2022.
So how can the Kings knowingly build a team with a major structural flaw, Cousins’ well-known penchant for bullying coaches and teammates, clashing with the media and flying off the handle at the slightest disrespect? That’s easy: They’ve been losing for so long — it’s 10 straight losing records and lottery finishes — that they’ve become numb to Cousins’ infantile behavior.
But paying a King’s ransom to “Boogie” will be an epic mistake.
That doesn’t much matter. Here’s what one Western Conference scout said about the state of the Lakers: “If you made a list of the 20 best players who are 22 or under, I think you’d have to have all three of the Lakers’ young guys on there. They’re three of the best young guys in the league. There’s Super Cheap Jerseys Fans really not a lot of teams can say that, and I think a lot of mediocre teams would like Pittsburgh Steelers Cheap Jerseys to swap rosters with the Lakers right now.”
Nets teammates Spencer Dinwiddie and Sean Kilpatrick played a combined 50 minutes but shot just 2 of 10 from the floor for a combined 12 points as Brooklyn lost its NBA-worst 33rd game.
