The Steelers picked two safeties during the draft and their arrival has pushed a veteran defensive back out the door in Pittsburgh.
The team announced that they released safety J.J. Wilcox Baseball Jerseys Wholesale on Monday.
Wilcox, who was acquired in a trade with the Buccaneers last year, was due a non-guaranteed salary of $3.125 million and his departure leaves $625,000 in dead money on the cap. Wilcox had 12 tackles and an interception in 12 games for the Steelers last season.
Tarvarius Moore, S, Southern Mississippi: The Niners extended Jaquiski Tartt earlier Friday, so Moore may be coming for Jimmie Ward’s job.
Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford: His 42 reps on the bench made him the 2018 combine champ for all positions. At 6-4, 307 pounds, he’ll plug right into the middle of Buffalo’s four-man front and could ultimately be a worthy successor to veteran Kyle Williams. Harrison’s wrestling background — he was a three-time Nebraska state champion in high school — and non-stop effort (103 tackles last year) will serve him well. He graduated from Stanford in 3½ years with a double major and is already on the board of a non-profit organization.
The Bengals drafted one linebacker last weekend, third-rounder Malik Jefferson.
M.J. Stewart, CB, North Carolina: A stout, physical presence, much needed for a secondary that contributed significantly to the NFL’s worst pass defense in 2017. Stewart should eventually replace aging Brent Grimes.
Jessie Bates, S, Wake Forest: He’ll add needed range to Cincinnati’s secondary, which could use more of that after relying on the safety combo of Shawn Williams Cheap NFL Jerseys Paypal and George Iloka.
Donte Jackson, CB, LSU: Carolina was in desperate need of reinforcements at corner. Jackson has exceptional speed (4.32 40), but at 5-11 and 178 pounds, how is he going to handle super-sized NFC South receivers like Julio Jones, Michael Thomas and Mike Evans?
Duke Dawson, CB, Florida: Clearly a need here after New England’s ugly divorce from Malcolm Butler. Dawson will likely making a living in the slot between starting CBs Stephon Gilmore and newly acquired Jason McCourty. Hello, Danny Amendola.
