The Rockies are rolling the dice with Lucroy.

A year ago, Lucroy was arguably the hottest name on the trade market, not only because he was having a great season for the Brewers — he was hitting .299 with 13 home runs and an .841 OPS for Milwaukee when Texas traded for him, sending a package headlined by stud prospect Lewis Brinson — but because he had another year left on his contract. That boosted his value.

That didn’t work out so well for the Rangers. Lucroy is having easily his worst season at the plate in 2017. He had a career slash line of .284/.343/.441 heading into this season, and he was coming off a career-high 24 home runs in 2016.

This year? The slash line is a rather anemic .242/.297/.338, with four homers and 27 RBIs in 306 plate appearances for Texas. His rWAR is minus-0.5, after he produced a 3.9 last year between Milwaukee and Texas. His struggles are one of the many reasons the Rangers are in position to be sellers heading into the July 31 nonwaiver trade deadline.

The Rockies are rolling the dice with Lucroy. The official return at the moment MLB Jerseys Cheap is a player to be named, which means what the Rockies send the Rangers could very well be tied to how Lucroy and his new team perform in the coming days, weeks and months (spoiler: zero chance that player will be one nearly the caliber of Brinson).

“It used to be camera systems, now it’s radar,” said Harry Pavlidis, director of technology for Baseball Prospectus and the founder of Pitch Info. “Basically, a portion of the balls’ flight NBA Jerseys Wholesale is captured and analyzed to create a detailed projection/estimate of the entire path. The big things are how fast is the ball going and how is it spinning; in what direction and at what speed. RPM, typically.”
